Sustainable Resilient Longmont is seeking a dynamic, strategic, and entrepreneurial leader to serve as its first Executive Director. This part-time, salaried position is based in Longmont, CO. The Executive Director is the management leader of Sustainable Resilient Longmont. The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the Administration, fundraising, and communications of the organization. Other key duties include event planning, volunteer and program coordination. The position reports directly to the Board of Directors. This is an exciting opportunity to make a direct and lasting impact on the sustainability of the Longmont community, furthering Longmont’s path to a more sustainable future.

The Executive Director is the management leader of Sustainable Resilient Longmont. The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing the Administration, fundraising, and communications of the organization. Other key duties include event planning, volunteer and program coordination. The position reports directly to the Board of Directors. Areas of Responsibility:
Development (40%)
- Manage the overall fundraising aspects of the organization. Chair the SRL Fundraising Committee, including organizing monthly fundraising committee meetings, and recruiting and coordinating volunteers. This includes managing SRL's participation in Colorado Gives Day, Giving Tuesday, annual appeal, organizing a membership drive and end-of year fundraising drive.
- Manage organizational grants, including grant writing and prospecting, keeping a list of grant prospects with due dates, submitting grants and progress reports on time.
- Build SRL's corporate sponsor program. This includes updating an annual sponsor packet, keeping an updated list of business outreach contacts, conducting outreach and meetings with potential donors about sponsorship opportunities.
- Grow SRL's membership program. This includes donor stewardship, outreach to past members, planning and executing an annual membership drive, recruiting new members, and membership appreciation.
- Update and send an annual membership survey, and compile data for funders in progress reports, as needed. Track ongoing data related to grants for progress reports.
- Maintain, build, and update donor database.
- Assist the SRL Treasurer in budget development.
Communications (30%)
- Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization. This includes public speaking, writing and distributing press releases, as well as developing and maintaining relationships with local media and news outlets.
- Compile, edit and send monthly e-newsletter.
- Update website weekly or more often as needed.
- Manage social media accounts to promote events, programs, fundraising, etc. (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Meetup.)
- Coordinate with vendors/contractors, including graphic designer and printer to produce print and digital advertising and promotional materials for major events, including Earth Day, annual fundraiser, sustainability candidate forum, and other events.
- Ensure that print materials, such as the general flyer, are up to date and printed in time for Farmers Markets and other outreach activities, meetings and events. Pick up flyers and posters and distribute (to committee and board members, hang flyers) and coordinate distribution of posters with volunteers.
Policy, Programs, and Events (20%)
- Build and maintain relationships with local and regional elected officials and policy-makers in order to effectively advocate for SRL’s focus areas of 100% renewable energy by 2030 and improving Zero Waste in Longmont.
- In collaboration with the board and volunteer planning committees, lead the planning efforts for major events including Longmont Earth Day, the Sustainability Awards Fundraiser, and the Longmont Electric Vehicle Fair.
Admin (10%)
- Coordinate with the SRL Treasurer to ensure payment for all paid contractors and vendors (graphic designer, advertising, printer, etc.)
- Manage physical assets/merchandise such as t-shirts, event banners, signage, and tabling materials.
- Attend all SRL Board of Directors meetings.
- Understand organization bylaws and general nonprofit organizational standards and operate within them at all times.
Requirements/Qualifications:
Required:
- Passion, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and a self-directed, entrepreneurial spirit.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field; or a two year degree in Business Administration, Communication, Education, Public Relations, or related field plus 3+ years work experience
- At least three years experience with fundraising, nonprofit management, or grassroots organizing
- Marketing and/or communications skills, including event promotion, email newsletters, social media and website management
- Public relations skills, including writing and distributing press releases and public speaking
- Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks and projects
- Excellence in organizational management with the ability to set and achieve strategic objectives and manage a budget.
- Willing to take initiative, be resourceful, problem-solve, learn new skills, and offer creative ideas
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office and Google Suite
- Position based in Longmont, Colorado. Flexible work hours with some nights and weekends required. The Executive Director will work from home with the flexibility to attend meetings and events in Longmont on a regular basis.
Preferred:
- CRM database management experience
- Website, social media and email marketing experience

Compensation:
- Base compensation $28,000 - $32,000, based on 25 hours per week. Opportunity to grow this position into full time employment based on fundraising benchmarks.
